YMCA Day Camp at Hoover Y-Park

Entering Grades 1-6
8:00am–3:00pm
The beautiful Hoover Y-Park has 65 acres of fields, woods, and stream. It is the perfect setting for an exciting summer in the great outdoors. We believe in offering children a wide variety of opportunities for learning new skills, making friends, having fun and building self-esteem. Hoover has a variety of activities including:
  • Nature center, hiking trails, and canoeing (subject to availability)
  • High ropes course, climbing wall, team challenge course & zip lines
  • Golf instructional area, volleyball courts, basketball courts, horseshoe pits
  • Fire ring, Right Angle Cabin, and four shelter houses
  • Optimist Lodge, which offers an art room and a stage for performances.
  • Breakfast and lunch are provided.
  • Bus transportation is available from the Eldon W. Ward YMCA, Hilltop YMCA, and the YMCA Southwest Community Center.

Drama Camp

Entering Grades 1–6
9:00am–3:30pm (Week 1)
Acting games, skits and comedy will help our young stars develop their acting skills, while experience in set design, props, lighting, and sound will round out their week.

Clay Creators

Entering Grades 1-6 9:00am-3:30pm (Weeks 2 & 3)
Through use of the potter’s wheel, hand building, and glazing you will create your work of art! This camp includes an overnight in Right Angle Cabin. Sign up for one week or two.

Photography Camp

Entering Grades 1-6 9:00am-3:30pm (Weeks 4)
Learn about perspective, the history of photography and even make your own camera! This week is sure to please all the shutterbugs out there! A trip to a local photo shop will complete your experience.

Worldwide Art

Entering Grades 1-6

Spend an exciting week spanning the globe as you experience the color and beauty of the art of Africa, Mexico and South America through visual art, music, dance and cooking.

WILDerness Quest

Entering Grades 5–7
9:00am–3:30pm (Week 7)
Come and experience the great outdoors! Fire building, outdoor cooking, and shelter building will prepare you for your primitive camping overnight at the Hoover Y-Park. Campers will experience, hiking, orienteering, canoeing and more! There is an overnight on Thursday night.

Culinary Arts

Entering Grades 1-6
9:00am–3:30pm (Week 8)
Learn your way around the kitchen and around the world! We will learn the basics of cooking and explore different foods from other countries. This week includes proper food handling and storage as well as basic nutrition.

Sports Galore

Entering Grades 1-6
9:00am–3:30pm (Week 8)
Try out a different sport each day. Flag football, soccer, and basketball are just a few of the sports you will learn and play. A trip to the Clippers games makes this a really great camp.

Jewelry Camp

Entering Grades 5
9:00am–3:30pm (Week 9)
Are you all about the Bling? Do you like to get creative and accessorize? This is the camp for you. Campers will make their own chains, do bead work and create their own real metal ring. Older campers will learn soldering and metalsmithing techniques.

Rock Band Camp

Entering Grades 5-10

Do you like to jam? We have the stage, you bring the instruments. You will learn to make your own songs and work together to make a Hoover Y Band! All skill levels welcome.

Love to play golf? Are you new to the game or looking for the perfect opportunity to improve it? Then this golf clinic is for you. It offers a terrific combination of skill-building and traditional camp activities.

Every day of your week brings a new and different adventure, and each of the four TeenXtreme locations has its own palette of activities to choose from. One day you could be making jewelry and playing in a basketball tournament; the next you might find yourself on a trail in the woods, cooking up a gourmet lunch outdoors.

Include a $25 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit per child, for each week of camp your child/children will be attending. If attending Before or After care also include a $5 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit per child for each week of Before and After care your child(ren)will be attending. This fee is part of the total fee for the week and not an additional charge. Checks, money orders and all major credit cards are accepted.
Examples: 2 weeks of camp for 1 child=$50 deposit
2 weeks of camp each for 2 children=$100 deposit

All fees, paperwork, or changes are due 14 days prior to the first day of each camp week. Checks, money orders and all major credit cards are accepted. Failure to pay in full may result in the camper’s name being removed from the camp roster.
