Christmas Tree Lot Sign-Up

October 20th, 2009 by Racing Sloth

The Y’s Men list is attached.  I’ll be keeping the list up to date as people volunteer.  The note from the Y’s Men is below - please sign up and help raise money for the Nation!

Dear Y Guides,

The Hilltop Y’s Men propose to have Y Guides earn some money for their Longhouse by working on our Christmas tree lot.  We do not have an overbearing work load, but certain times we do need extra help on the lot to help us serve our customers.   There will be someone from the Y’s Men working with you.

We will pay the Longhouse $10.00 an hour for every hour worked by the Y Guides.

If you sign up to help us, we expect to have you there for the times you sign up.  We expect it, and depend on your being there.  If you cannot make it to your appointed shift, you can get a substitute to work for you.  If you do not show up for a shift, we will subtract from the total payment to the Longhouse $5.00 an hour for every hour missed.

For safety’s sake, we ask you to leave the children at home.

On the sheets below, we have laid out the shifts that are available to you.  Please do not add a name unless there is a blank to sign on.

The Y’s men are making this number of hours available to the Y Guides as a courtesy.  If this number of hours exceeds your availability, please let us know and we will reduce the number of hours in the future.

We look forward to working with you.  We will mail you a copy of the finished schedule.

2009-2010 Kitchinodin Season Begins!

August 31st, 2009 by Racing Sloth

The new school year is suddenly upon us.  That means that it’s time to kick off another great year of Y-Tribes!

Fall Camp will be here much earlier than last year.  It is scheduled for October 2 – 4 at YMCA Camp Willson.  There is not much time to get organized prior to the event, but the payoff comes with all the fun events: hayride, bonfire, fishing, great games, goofy golf, canoe races, horseback riding, archery, bb-guns, on and on . . . and especially Kitchinodin Council Fire where we welcome first timers and give the Braves, Hunters and Warriors a chance to reflect on the aims of Y-Tribes.  The Tribal Chiefs will be organizing planning meetings and convening the first tribe meetings as soon as possible.  It is possible that we will be forming additional tribes to better balance tribe size and schedule needs.  Our leadership theme for the year will be one of stewardship – we want to continue many of the traditions that have been part of Kitchinodin Nation for over 50 years now, while leaving the program poised for continued success into the future. Our main focus, as always, will be to center the program around the bond between parent and child:  friends forever!
