New leadership to position Y for focused growth and greater impact
Columbus- [May 22, 2019] The YMCA of Central Ohio today announced that Tony Collins has accepted the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Tony is currently the executive director of Columbus Recreation and Parks and will step into his new role June 18. Tony's appointment is a clear reflection of the Y's commitment to strategic growth and the leveraging of current assets for greater impact. The local Y association is composed of 13 full facility branches with two new locations opening in late 2019. Over 2,200 people are currently employed by the Y.
"Tony is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of success," stated chairman of the Y's board of directors, Pam Biesecker. "The YMCA is an extremely complex organization. Tony's vision, extensive experience, commitment to the Y's mission and dedication to Central Ohio were traits our search committee found especially appealing. The Board warmly welcomes Tony to the role." Local executive search firm Beecherhill led the national hunt.

Collins began his career 22 years ago as a camping services director for the Akron Area YMCA. Most recently, Collins served with distinction as executive director of Columbus Recreation and Parks for the past four years, leading the team responsible for over 280 developed parks and a multitude of complex assets including community centers, golf courses, and swimming pools. He also served as a leader for the City of Gahanna Parks and Recreation Department from 2000 to 2015, including 11 years as director.
Tony Collins will succeed interim president and CEO, Kim Jordan who has been in the role since November 2018. Jordan will continue in her role as Chief Operating Officer. "Kim has done a remarkable job during this period of staying focused and moving forward," shared immediate past board chair and chair of the Y's search committee, Jamie Richardson. "She is truly a cause driven leader and we can't thank her enough for all she has done over the past several months."
