Strengthening Community Since 1855
You may know the Y as the place to go to get in a heart-pumping workout, but the Y exists as a non-profit here to meet the needs of the community. We're helping kids, adults and families in Central Ohio neighborhoods become the best version of themselves through numerous programs and services such as: Child Care, diabetes prevention, ECRN+, financial assistance, Youth & Government, Juvenile Justice, housing and so much more.
Everyone is welcome here. We believe diversity enriches and enlivens our Y. When you are a member of the Y, you are helping to strengthen your community.
Ensuring A Brighter Future.
Preschool/Early Childhood Education
“The Y means everything to me when it comes to Mason. It means he is happy and continuing to move forward a little bit each day with the help of teachers that care about him.”
The Y provides an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity and expression. Children are individuals, and we believe in developing the whole child emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially, while meeting each child’s own needs and learning styles. Through games, group activities, songs, creative drama, gym time, outdoor play, and story time, children will learn about the world around them. We believe in partnering with parents to encourage whole child development within a safe and nurturing environment.
"The instructors were very sensitive to my personal struggles."
LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA recognizes that cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The YMCA and the LIVESTRONG Foundation have joined together to help support cancer survivors move beyond their diagnosis in spirit, mind and body. This 12-week, research-based program is designed to build cardiovascular and core muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and balance. This program is offered at no cost to participants.
"The Y helped Jessiah feel safe and comfortable doing some things on his own."
Early Childhood Resource Network+
ECRN+ has more than 25 years of experience working with children who have special needs (developmental delays, disabilities and special health care needs) and their families.
"The program helped me put the pieces together."
YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program
As a leading nonprofit for strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y believes that all people should be able to live life to its fullest, healthiest potential. In the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program a trained lifestyle coach will introduce topics in a supportive, small group environment and encourage participants as they explore how healthy eating, physical activity and behavior changes can benefit their health.
Diabetes Prevention That Works - NY TIMES
"The Y has saved me I am blessed to be here."
YMCA Housing and Residential Services
The YMCA’s history is rooted in providing safe, affordable housing for adult men, women and families in need. We serve some of the most vulnerable in our community by providing supportive services needed to live independently again. The Y offers a way to maintain a regular, secure and adequate place for individuals to find a place to rest, to shower, and to simply enjoy a meal, which at times is the only source of food in days.
"It helps kids like us become more confident."
YMCA Youth & Government The Ohio YMCA's
Youth in Government is a three-day learning conference in which students participate directly in a simulation of the democratic process. Youth in Government offers students the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of issues, develop critical thinking skills, and articulate their beliefs while engaging constructively with those who hold like and opposing views. Teens in the program learn about the legislative process, how to write and research bills, and how to participate in elections. Their work culminates in teens serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature.
