stablefamilies

The YMCA of Central Ohio is pleased to announce a new partnership with The United Way and the Siemer Institute:  The Stable Families program. Stable Families is operating in over 50 cities throughout the United States in order to meet the needs of families and children simultaneously through a 2Gen strengths-based model.  The focus of Stable Families is to provide support so the entire family can thrive with a focus on ongoing school stability, maintaining secure and appropriate housing, and assisting families so they increase their income.

ECRN+, together with our housing team, will meet the needs of children and adults simultaneously to foster academic success and break the cycle of poverty.  ECRN+ will partner with schools and the community in order to identify families in need and then begin a year long relationship with participating families. Our Y team will conduct four-five home visits each month with families in order to work on academic success of the children, increase family income, and ensure safe and stable housing.

Currently, there are more than 300 families living at the Y’s Van Buren Center, temporary housing for those experiencing a housing crisis. At the Y, we are committed to intervening early before families begin to experience a housing crisis through the Stable Families program. Our Service Coordinators empower families to thrive by helping them set and achieve meaningful goals; stable homes, thriving families, and successful students.
