The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. Water fitness classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages. Our Y's water fitness classes use a variety of exercises and equipment and may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of the two.
Types of classes we offer
Arthritis Aquatic Class
Trained personnel lead participants through a series of specially designed exercises that use buoyancy and resistance to help improve joint flexibility.
Active Older Adults
Trained personnel lead participants through a series of specially designed exercises that use buoyancy and resistance to help improve joint flexibility. This class is specially designed for Active Older Adults.
Aqua Jog
Participants use the water for resistance in this cardiovascular and muscle conditioning workout. Exercises can be performed multiple ways to accommodate all fitness levels.
Hydro Power
Participants will use this interval-based combination class to sculpt and strengthen muscles and improve overall cardio endurance. In 8 lane pool.
Hydro Power II
Participants will use this interval-based combination class to sculpt and strengthen muscles and improve overall cardio endurance. Hydro Power II has a mix of cardio based exercises that can be completed with and without equipment in order to modify intensity.
Hydro Power III
Participants will use this interval-based combination class to sculpt and strengthen muscles and improve overall cardio endurance. Hydro Power III is a water “boot camp”! Strengthen your muscles and improve cardio with this entire body workout.
Silver Sneakers Splash
Join us in the pool for a variety of exercises that can help you build strength and increase your range of movement. A SilverSneakers kickboard is provided for balance support, and you don’t even need swimming skills. This class is FREE AND FOR SILVER SNEAKER MEMBERS ONLY. Registration is required. Low to Medium Intensity.
Water Fitness
Participants use the water for resistance and a surprisingly intense, cardiovascular and muscle conditioning workout. Perfect any fitness level. Participants control their own intensity. Beginner or advanced, high or low intensity, deep or shallow water.
Warm Water Low Intensity
Participants use the water for resistance for this cardiovascular and muscle conditioning workout. The class is held in a heated pool.
Aqua Zumba
Based on the same Latin dance and aerobic exercise as the original zumba, this class takes those principals to the water for a fun, lower-impact dance class.
