YMCA, CMHA open $14 million Affordable Housing Complex
Mar 05, 2024
The YMCA of Central Ohio is proud to partner with the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority to celebrate the grand opening of a new affordable housing option in Columbus. A $14 million project, McKinley Manor is a 44-unit community that will exclusively serve low-and fixed-income citizens aged 55 and over.
The first individuals to reside at McKinley Manor have been relocated from the former Downtown YMCA. Upon that location’s closure in 2019, the YMCA of Central Ohio’s Housing and Shelter Services worked strategically to relocate 403 men into affordable housing units or permanent supportive housing communities.
President and CEO of the YMCA of Central Ohio, Tony Collins, emphasized that the Y remains committed to helping vulnerable community members who experience homelessness. “Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live,” Collins said. “We are so grateful to all the partners that work with us to help individuals in need find stability and take charge of their lives. You are helping make our community a better place.”
McKinley Manor was funded with support from the City of Columbus, Franklin County, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Marble Cliff Capital, Park National Bank and the Affordable Housing Trust for Columbus and Franklin County. The YMCA of Central Ohio will staff the complex and provide case management for all residents.
