Quick Facts

  • CSCC students can access the YMCA in Central Ohio at no cost until the new YMCA is constructed and open in 2028. At that time, a $65 per semester charge will be added to their tuition.
  • To add one additional adult + dependent children that live in your household, it will cost $30 per month
  • Students can transfer their existing YMCA membership to a CSCC YMCA membership

When can I begin accessing the YMCA in Central Ohio?

The YMCA of Central Ohio team has established a path to membership:

Step 1: Request Membership

Begin the membership process by filling out the secure form with your information. The form features smart logic to easily create a new account or seamlessly transition your existing personal YMCA membership.

  • Students are eligible to activate their membership on June 1, 2026
  • Employees are eligible to activate their membership on July 1, 2026.

Step 2: Check Your Inbox

You will receive a confirmation email once you submit your membership request, but wait until you receive the activation email to visit the YMCA to finalize and activate your membership. Membership access will be available within 5 business days after your form is submitted.

Step 3: Go to the Y

Head to any Central Ohio YMCA branch to finalize your membership and grab your key tag! Note: You must bring a physical photo ID on your first visit to finalize activation.

* Note: Students under the age of 18 will need their guardian present at the time of membership activation.

What if I am already a YMCA of Central Ohio member?

Your membership can be transferred to an individual membership. To do this, please select “I have an existing Y membership I want to convert to a CSCC membership” once you request your membership by clicking the button below. 

How much does the student membership cost?

As part of the Columbus State and YMCA partnership, students will gain access to all YMCA of Central Ohio locations at $0 while this state-of-the-art facility is being designed and built.

Students can expect a $65 per semester fee once the Columbus State Community College YMCA opens in Autumn 2028. Students may add additional members of their household (one adult + dependent children) for a recurring charge of $30 per month. 

Is my information that I submit in this form protected?

Yes. The form to get your YMCA membership is secure.

Can I submit a membership form if I am under the age of 18?

You may submit a membership request form, but a parent or guardian must be present to finalize the membership at your local YMCA if you are under the age of 18.

Will a student membership be different from a typical YMCA membership?

No. Columbus State Community College students will receive all the same benefits and access as typical YMCA of Central Ohio members. This includes:

  • Access to all 12 Central Ohio locations and nationwide access to most YMCAs
  • Program discounts
  • Priority scheduling for all programming
  • YMCA360, the YMCA’s app offering group exercise classes, family activities, access to your YMCA’s schedule and the ability to reserve child watch and register for programs
  • Complimentary Child Watch
  • Unlimited Group Exercise classes
  • Five annual guest passes

Will my student ID be my YMCA membership card?

No. You will need a valid photo ID to finalize your membership, but after that, you will receive a YMCA of Central Ohio membership key tag that you will use to access all 12 facilities across Central Ohio. You will also be able to access a digital version of your membership key tag in YMCA360, our mobile app.

How long will students have access to the YMCA?

Your access to the YMCA will remain active so long as you are enrolled in Columbus State Community College. If, for any reason, you are no longer eligible for membership, you will receive a notice of termination via email. At that time, you will have the opportunity to purchase a YMCA membership.

Do I have to use this membership?

No, it is not mandatory to activate this student YMCA membership.

Are all students eligible for YMCA membership through this partnership?

The YMCA membership benefit would apply to all students registered for one or more for-credit classes, excluding College Credit Plus (CCP) and apprenticeship (APPL) students. Since CCP and APPL students do not pay the Student Recreation Fee, they are not eligible for the benefits provided.

Does a student’s part-time or full-time status impact their eligibility for YMCA membership?

No. As long as students are registered in classes, regardless of how many credit hours, they are eligible for this membership.

Do online-only students have access?

Yes. As long as students are registered in classes, regardless if they are online or in-person, they are eligible for this membership.

Will I have access over the summer if I’m not taking classes?

No. Students must be currently enrolled to maintain the $0 membership benefit. 

When can I begin accessing the YMCA in Central Ohio?

Before Completing this form:

Please ensure you have taken the following steps to complete your CSCC Benefit Election.

Step 1: Enroll through your employer:

  • Log in to Workday Account → Benefits and Pay → Enroll in Benefits
  • Select the YMCA Membership option and complete your election

How much does the employee membership cost?

Employees will be able to opt-in for a pay-roll deduction of $16 per pay period starting July 1, 2026

How much does it cost to add family members to my account?

Eligible family members (aged 24 or under) are able to be added for $30/mo + tax once your membership is active.

What if I am already a YMCA of Central Ohio member?

Your membership can be transferred to an individual membership. Please complete the benefit selection steps. Once completed, you will have the option to select “I have an existing Y membership I want to convert to a CSCC membership” once you start your membership by clicking the button below.

NOTE: If you have an outstanding balance on your YMCA account, that must be paid in full before your account can be converted to a CSCC membership.

Will an employee membership be different from a typical YMCA membership?

No. Columbus State Community College employees will receive all the same benefits and access as typical YMCA of Central Ohio members. This includes:

  • Access to all 12 Central Ohio locations and nationwide access to most YMCAs
  • Program discounts
  • Priority scheduling for all programming

How do I stop payroll deduction if I no longer want to be a member?- we need to connect further on this with accounting, the employee membership process has not been completed yet.

Request to end your payroll deduction from Columbus State Community College the same way you requested to start it. Once terminated through Columbus State, you will be terminated from the YMCA. For any questions, email benefits@cscc.edu

Can I enroll as a part-time employee?

No. You must be a full-time employee, as you elect it in your benefits package.

Can I keep access if I leave Columbus State Community College as an employee?

No. Your membership will be terminated if you are no longer employed by Columbus State. An adult or family YMCA membership must be purchased online or at a community center for you to maintain your access.
